nokomis, about half this night

by waaseyaa'sin christine sy

sometimes,
you bmose
the long way
home
just so you can be
in her light
a bit longer

just so you can be
there
beneath anangoonhsag
and dibikong blue,
her ethereal hue
(highlights blades of
manicured grass in
blankets of dew)

sometimes you pull
your earbuds out
and pj harvey too
so you can feel
vibrations
of city magakiig
over there
in robust shadows

you walk
the long way
home
alone
so you can
smell minokimii night
in her light

wonder
who else
feels
half this night
